1 large apple, cored and grated
4 ½ cups milk
1/4 cup sugar
6-8 almonds, blanched, peeled and slivered
6-8 pistachios, blanched, peeled and slivered
1 teaspoon screw pine essence
½ teaspoon cinnamon powder
Bring the milk to a boil in a thick-bottomed non-stick pan. Lower the heat, add the sugar and simmer for ten to fifteen minutes.
Add the apple to the milk. Simmer for five more minutes. Remove from the heat and leave to cool.
Add the slivered nuts and screw pine essence to the milk and stir.
Serve chilled, sprinkled with cinnamon powder.
