Uddian bandha
Sit
in a meditative pose. Place the palms on the knees. Close the eyes and relax
the whole body. Exhale deeply and retain the breath outside. Perform jalandhar
bandha. Then, contract the abdominal muscles as far as possible inwards and
upwards. Slowly release the stomach muscles, jalandhar bandha and inhale. It is
basically an exercise of the diaphragm, ribs and the lower abdomen to the
brain.
It
stimulates the manipuraka chakra, which is situated just behind the navel
centre. It activates the cardiac muscles, respiratory organs, liver, spleen,
pancreas, kidneys and intestines. It helps in eliminating toxins from the body,
and is effective in curing constipation, diabetes, strengthening abdominal
muscles and improving natural appetite.
