GREEN PEA RASAM SOUP FOR DIABETICS

Ingredients (Serves 4)

2 cups shelled green peas

4 tsp coriander seeds

1 tsp cumin seeds

1/2 tsp peppercorns

1 dry red chilli (optional)

6 cloves garlic

1 tbsp tamarind pulp

Preparation

Cook the shelled green peas in 1 cup of water. Keep aside. Dry roast the coriander, cumin seeds, peppercorns and red chilli if using, together. Grind these alongwith 1/3 of the cooked peas, using the water in which the peas were boiled. Add 4 cups of water to the ground paste and bring to a boil. After 5 minutes, add the remaining peas along with the salt and tamarind pulp. Mix well. You may add more water if you want a thinner rasam.

 

Variation: Use broccoli florets the same way.
