Mixed Flour Bread

INGREDIENTS

1 cup thalipeeth flour (recipe follows)

1 tbsp green chilli, chopped

1 tbsp ginger, chopped

1 onion, finely chopped

1 tsp red chilli powder

1/2 cup sour yogurt

1 tomato, finely chopped

1 + 4 tbsp oil for frying

1 tbsp sesame seeds, toasted

1/2 tsp clove-cardamom powder

1/2 tsp coriander-cumin powder

1/4 tsp pepper

Salt to taste

METHOD

1. Place flour in a broad dish. Add all ingredients except oil to make a soft dough. Heat a griddle with one tablespoon of oil.

2. Make small balls of the dough. Place them on a rolling board and press lightly with your palm to make small rounds approximately three inches in diameter.

3. Place the thalipeeth on hot griddle. Apply a little oil on the top surface, cover the pan and let it cook on a slow flame. Turn it over and cook the other side.

4. When it is light brown, take it off the gas and serve with vegetables or pitla.

 

Make approx. 12 pieces
