SAI Baba ARRIVAL IN SHIRDI

SAI Baba ARRIVAL IN SHIRDI

In the absence of his Guru, Babu did not feel at home in the 'ashram'. So, he went to Shirdi for long penances in 1856. There was a Neem Tree on the out-skirts of the village. Babu sat under the tree in deep meditation. He passed two years in exclusive meditation and no one could know who Babu was.

One day, a village woman happened to pass that way. She was startled to see a hermit with a glowing face, lost in meditation. She greeted the holy saint and asked with her folded hands, "0 holy sage, who are you ? From where have you come ? Where is your family?"

Babu smiled and raised one of his fingers towards the sky. "I am the son of my Lord. I have come from there and will reach there quite soon. This world is my abode and all the people of this world are my brothers and sisters."

After listening to the young ascetic or faqir, the lady's head bowed down out of reverence. Soon, she went to the village after paying due homage to the saint.

The news, "There is a young ascetic who is sitting in meditation under the Neem Tree," spread like wild fire in the whole village. Gradually, the villagers began to visit the young faqir. Babu began to dispel the darkness of people's ignorance with the light of his sermons. Mhalsapathi, Govind Ra, Raghunath, Damodar, Shirpal-were the few people who were deeply impressed by Babu's sermons. In this way, a year rolled by. Again, this young faqir vanished away from Shirdi in the same way as he had arrived there unexpectedly. Once more, Shirdi became lustreless.
